Sound Masking for Privacy and Focus
Limited Capacity seats available

Sound Masking & Speech Privacy
Why, When, and How to plan a system
Overheard conversations in the work environment are a primary source of employee dissatisfaction, employer productivity concerns, and overall security risks that include a potential increase in regulatory and financial liability.  And while there isn’t a convenient password or encryption system available for the human voice, there is still a technological solution available to the modern workspace.

Sound Masking as an office technology has been around for more than half a century, but may be new to the departments and personnel tasked with the planning, purchasing, and management of these systems.

This presentation sheds light on the topic of sound masking as an information technology by outlining basic acoustic principals which determine the level of distraction created by unwanted conversation, examines goals for confidentiality, and defines criteria for an effective sound masking system.  Goals:

  • Learn about the importance of acoustic privacy & audible information security
  • Identify principles involved in good acoustic technology design and speech privacy
  • Understand what speech privacy is and how it can be quantified
  • How to plan & implement the right masking system for your space

Create Savings and Efficiency with Private Optical Networks (PON)
Limited Capacity seats available

PON:  Faster.  More efficient.  Less money.  Yes!

Passive Optical Networks (PON) leverages single mode fiber for a superior network solution beyond
any copper cabling. Aside from experiencing better performance, you’ll save energy, real estate and
money. The key for comparison is examining the total installed cost. Immediately PON’s compact size
and ease of delivery to the desktop reduces space requirements, network equipment, installation, and
construction costs. A PON deployment can be half the cost of copper. And once you’re moved in,
you’ll see even more savings.

In this class we will be discussing  copper vs single-mode fiber, what makes PON the better choice, how to handle connections on the other end of the fiber, mounting options, space savings and power savings.  I look forward to answering any questions you may have regarding Passive Optical Networks and how they will bring you ROI.

The Future of Philanthropy in Your Workplace
Limited Capacity seats available

Over the last decade, there has been a dramatic shift in how employees connect, interact and give back. Digital platforms, social media and global issues and needs have become an important part of the philanthropic landscape. Employees want options, choice and flexibility to choose how they give their time and money to help important causes they care about. In response, corporations are successfully aligning their business and philanthropic missions to create a corporate culture that encourages giving back. These savvy organizations understand such a shift increases employee retention and engagement. It’s imperative that the business sector engage in philanthropic endeavors, which build more cohesive and inclusive communities where all people have the same opportunities to live their best lives. During this session, we will discuss these trends, identify ways that businesses can take steps to align their mission and philanthropy, and introduce a new development in philanthropic giving created in partnership between United Way and Salesforce, which uses artificial intelligence to connect individuals with causes and opportunities to engage in their community that are personally meaningful.

The Internet of Things (IoT): "IoT Security - Past, Present and Future"
Limited Capacity filling up

Since the concept was first articulated less than 20 years ago, we’ve seen an exponential rise in the visibility, innovation and adoption of this groundbreaking concept and technology. Along with this innovation and the accompanying usability we’ve also seen a darker side as well. Wide spread security breaches, data loss, systems compromise, corporate espionage and even national security hang in the balance. This session will examine where we’ve been and where we’re headed from a security perspective.

Virtualization Designed to Deliver Simplicity, Availability and Scalability
Limited Capacity seats available

Scale Computing’s HC3 is the IT virtualization infrastructure platform that is changing the way IT runs from the ground up. Combining servers, storage, hypervisor, and backup/DR, HC3 is helping IT administrators transform their infrastructures to be more scalable, more highly available, and more affordable. Simplicity is the not-so-secret ingredient in HC3 delivering savings over traditional infrastructure solutions and the hyperconverged competition.

HC3 and the HyperCore architecture were designed to provide highly available, scalable compute and storage services while maintaining operational simplicity through highly intelligent software automation and architecture simplification. HyperCore puts intelligence and automation in the software layer and was designed to take advantage of low cost, easily replaceable and upgradable “commodity” hardware components including the virtualization capabilities built into modern CPU architectures.
